School students from Ukraine won five awards at the "Genius Olympics" — ISEF 2016, the international science and engineering fair for young scientists held in Phoenix (Arizona, USA).

Intecracy Group is the technical partner of the Ukrainian stages of the competition.

According to the announcement, Ukraine sent 7 finalists to the international final, selected at the Intel Techno and Intel Eco contests. In the final, young Ukrainian talents Fiong Anh Chan (Cherkasy) and Oleksandr Buzin (Kyiv) won two third places in the Mathematics and Systems Software categories, as well as a special prize of the competition.

Fiong Anh Chan's project on figurate numbers became something of a sensation at the competition. She studied the properties of figurate numbers and managed to derive a formula for finding the common elements of two of their sequences.

The announcement emphasizes that the properties of figurate numbers interested many eminent mathematicians, including Fermat, Euler and Cauchy. But until now, no one had managed to solve this problem. The results can be applied in various fields of science, for example in cryptography and computer science, bioengineering and nanophysics.

Oleksandr Buzin's project (Kyiv Lyceum No. 241) is highly practical: "An internet library for modeling objects in spatial dimensions". Oleksandr successfully developed a new framework that makes it possible to create all kinds of 3D objects for display in web browsers. This technology will be useful to engineers and content specialists alike (for example, web designers, marketers, journalists and so on).

The announcement also notes that Ukrainian school students (finalists of Intel Techno and Intel Eco) took part in several international science competitions at once. As a result, Andriy Ryabets won first place at the science project competition in Mexico, and Liza Podkopayeva won first place at the competition in Georgia. Yevhen Butenko took second place at the science project competition in China.
